My Journey

Welcome to my blog!

As I step out of the school gates and into the world, I've been using this blog as my compass to forge a unique path. Unlike the conventional route of university, I've been venturing into the uncharted territories of the climate crisis, determined to make a difference.

🌍 The why:

We're standing at a precipice, with less than a decade to avert the direst consequences of the climate emergency. The weight of this crisis falls heavily on the shoulders of the younger generation. Climate change operates on a 30-year lag, and the carbon in our atmosphere now surpasses levels seen in the last 150 years. This is not a drill; it's an emergency demanding urgent action.

Our education system, as it stands, falls short of equipping young minds for this monumental task. It champions individualism and test performance over collaboration, communication, and creativity. To navigate the turbulent waters of climate change, we need innovative thinkers working together because this crisis affects us all. This blog has become my haven for connecting with fellow activists and hope-bearers, as I strive to rewrite the narrative around climate change. In the face of such a colossal challenge, it's easy to feel powerless. Yet, by promoting hope and optimism, we can inspire collective action. With a modest community of around 500 young individuals, we're supporting each other in facing the future with unwavering hope.

🌻 Sustainable Business:

  • At Sustainable Ventures, I had the privilege of interviewing founders of international companies about their efforts to combat climate change and create a sustainable future.

  • Delphis Eco, a B-Corp on a mission to revolutionise the cleaning product industry, welcomed me for a week of invaluable work experience. While there, I had the chance to attend the Sustainability Show in Islington, interview their CEO about his COP27 experience, delve into recycling industry research, and explore the University of Cambridge's Institute of Sustainability course.

  • Flocq provided me with the platform to share insights about sustainability in football, highlighting the role sports can play in this critical conversation.

  • My collaboration with Battenhall, a leading social media marketing company, as a consultant on their Scout TikTok account project, was a rewarding experience. I engaged with fellow scouts, delving into what scouting means to them.

  • Climate Explores, a charity dedicated to showcasing climate solutions and promoting well-being through eco-adventures, allowed me to contribute by crafting blogs about the fashion industry and their documentary, "14 Days South Sea and Land."

  • For The Climate, a news outlet focused on current climate affairs, I put together a series of informative infographics about COP26 for their social media channels.

🌲 Wildlife Trust Volunteer:

My volunteer work with the Shropshire Wildlife Trust has deepened my connection to the natural world and the importance of conservation efforts. I’ve been involved with several initiatives that the Trust has put together such as laying hedges, building bat boxes, bird house making and pond dipping. I’ve also organised two school trips to the Field Studies Council HQ in Shropshire for our Scout group and Eco Club - the kids got so much out of the day, least of all a stronger bond with the natural world. I've also been joining them on Nextdoor Nature project days when we take people from the Eastern European community across Telford (mostly Ukrainian and Polish people) and run a day of activities for them. It's all about reconnecting them with nature, and their roots and making them feel more at home by putting on events that remind them of what they used to enjoy in their home nations.

🏕️ Scout Leader:

I've proudly been a member of the Scout organisation for 14 years and am now a fully trained leader. Earning the prestigious Chief Scout Gold Award, the highest accolade in scouting, reflects my unwavering commitment and drive to push boundaries. Recently, I was honoured with the district's Young Scout Leader of the Year award, recognising my tireless efforts to inspire and lead.

🌿 Eco Enthusiast:

I've also taken a leadership role in my school's Eco Club, spearheading efforts to rewild our campus and instil sustainable habits in students from a young age. Collaboration with education stakeholders, local businesses, and the council has taught me the art of bringing people together for a common goal.

🙌🏻 Giving Back:

I've raised over £500 for the Dyspraxia Foundation. Whether it's conquering the challenge of scaling three Shropshire hills in 12 hours or organising charity fundraisers, my aim is to make a tangible impact. I regularly host Diversity and Inclusion evenings at Scouts to raise awareness about neurodiversity and disabilities, fostering a supportive community.

We initiated a food bank collection at the Scout Hut, collaborating with Maninplace, a homeless shelter in Telford, to support the local community. Additionally, I've volunteered with Telford Crisis Support, a food bank cooperative.

🫂 Global Engagement:

As part of the Force Of Nature community, a global network of young change-makers from 50+ countries, I'm channelling eco-phobia into positive action. This non-profit organisation equips young people with the skills needed to drive climate action.

✨ Current Endeavours:

I am the co-founder of Shropshire’s first climate café. We have been inspired by the 161+ founders of climate cafés across 46 countries, from the Force of Nature community. The goal? We want to make space for people to explore their climate anxiety and channel it into meaningful, tangible actions that make a difference in our community.

As an ambassador for Impact Hustlers, a global ecosystem of founders. I'm actively involved in launching their London chapter by supporting the team-run events across the capital for impact-driven founders.

Furthermore, my role as a retail assistant and content creator at Shropshire’s largest refill shop, The Little Green Pantry, allows me to contribute to sustainability efforts on a local scale.

I am an ambassador and Community Builder at Curv, a social media start-up reimagining the world of social media. Curv prioritises real connection, community, and mobilisation of movements over mindless scrolling and likes.

Finally, I am the Community Empowerment director at Re-Action. We are a global community of outdoor enthusiasts who want to make their adventures more sustainable. By protecting what they love, Re-Action backs them up by offering support and guidance on how to bolster their impact. Re-Action is also super keen to highlight the humanity, fun, and simplicity of climate activism - it isn't all doom and gloom. We are also big fans of the sharing economy. In fact, we have partnered with organisations from across the world who are striving for a better future! 🌲

🌱 What's Next:

I'm up for any opportunity, paid or pro bono! Especially in the sustainability or research, innovation, or social media spaces. Get in touch if you reckon you have an opportunity brewing that I'd be the ideal fit for.

Together, we can make a difference.
